Lowering ride height = no extra speed?

by Starfleet Comma » Sun, 13 Jun 1999 04:00:00

I read that if I lowered the ride height of my GPL cars right down,
and increased the strength of the suspension, that I would be a lot
faster.

I have tried, but haven't really noticed all that much of a top speed
increase.

Anybody know if there is an INI file where I can change the settings
further down than they should go, to be REAL low to the ground?

It's not top speed that is affected.  It's your cornering speeds that
will increase and reduce your lap times.

True.  How true.  The higher the car is off the ground, the higher the center
of gravity and the more body roll there will be.  Both these slow cornering
speeds.

The GPL patch will limit ride heights to 2.5" or higher. So get used to
higher ride heights. Head over to http://simracing.com/alison/gpl/  and
check out the article 'Sweet Red Candy'. I tried out the setups and
although I'm not finding improvements in my times, the car is very
stable. Even hitting a curb barely effects the car. Try that in a low
rider!

I meant to say cornering speeds will be reduced and increase your lap
times.

What was I on? ;D
