SRO closed their doors. This is from their page:
SimRacing Online is closing its doors!
To our users:
We regret to inform you that SimRacing Online will discontinue services
effective immediately. I have recently taken a job with Papyrus Design
Group in Watertown, MA. Papyrus, as you know, manufactures NASCAR Racing
products, and in that capacity they are subject to a variety of strict
licensing contracts and limitations that, by nature of my employment with
Papyrus, makes it impossible for me to be directly involved or
responsible for this site. Before you go blaming Papyrus for anything,
let me assure you that they have gone well out of their way to try and
find a compromise that would allow me to continue with SRO. However, the
legal department could not come to an agreement with NASCAR, and thus SRO
must be shut down.
I thank all of you for your patronage of SRO. You have helped prove that
a one-stop resource for simulation racing is not a fairy tale, but a
reality. Other sites will pick up where SRO blazed the trail. To those
who have supported us through thick and thin, thank you -- without you,
SRO would have been impossible.
Again, thank you. Keep in touch.
Yours,
Tony Johns
