Snetterton 67 - 'flat' tree problem

by Ross Hashan » Sun, 25 Feb 2001 15:58:46

I've got a problem with the Snetterton 67 track --
for some reason, the trees off in the distance (sides) are FLAT and blurry.
When I say flat, I mean that they have no depth whatsoever, like if you
stand a piece of paper up on its edge (now imagine it green!).
The old Snetterton had no problem with these trees.
If it helps, my video card is a Diamond Stealth II S220 (Rendition V2100).
Anyone else experience this problem?

Btw.. other than that, track is great! Keep up the good work PLEA!

How are they different from the flat trees and spectators and other objects
at every other track?

Marc.

I've uploaded 2 screenshots of the blurry & 'flat' trees at Snetterton 67 to
a website..

Anyone else got this problem? This is the only track out of 60+ that I've
experienced this problem.

I think the word for the trees is "square" rather than "flat". And no,
never seen that effect before, but what are you doing on that bit of
grass?

Not really complaining .. more of curious as to why this is happening with
the one tree MIP.
Never seen this 'problem' before in 50+ tracks -- there's got to be a
logical explanation, no?

My guess is this is a similar problem to the 'fat' telephone-pole problem at
Mosport for people with Voodoo cards. Remember that? My Rendition-based card
never had a problem with these, so I was unaware that the problem existed.
Anyone know why that problem existed. What is it that caused that? This
could be similar..

R. Hashana
btw... Lawrence, I was 'over by the trees' seeing how close I had to get
before the tree would 'un-blur'. :o)

Sorry for my smart ass answer...now that I see the issue, it is serious.

I know when Snett was converted for use with N99(in our tptcc patch)
all the trackside graphics looked like they had been laid flat on the track.
Trees and buildings didn't look like they were standing next to the track,
they looked like they were squished flat.  It was wierd to watch a replay
and
see the car drive over a pedestrian bridge as it lay across the track.
Being one of the first privately created tracks, I think Snett was a
learning
process.
