Rear Camber Rambling

Rear Camber Rambling

The recent question on the numbers that ncsetup comes up with  for rear camber
started me thinking on the subject.  Although you can't adjust rear camber
directly on a solid axle,  by running stagger you are inducing camber into the
rear wheels.  I don't know what the dimensions of a real race car are but if
we assume a rear track width of 60 inchs and a tire dia. of 22 inchs, and you
run 1.5 inchs of  stagger,  you will induce 0.70 degrees of negative camber in
the right rear and the same degree of positive camber in the left rear, a
significant amount !
Is this a factor that real race car teams take into account ? You would think
so.  Does it have an effect in the nascar sim ? Apparently not. If you do a
tire temperature test on the front and change nothing but camber by 0.70
degrees you will see a change in temperature across the tires, but If you do
another test and change nothing but rear stagger from 0 to 1.5 inchs you see
no change in temperature across the rear tires.  Comments ?

Well, in real IndyCar racing, the right and left front wings
can be set independant of each other.
What I really am saying is that the simulation takes some other
things for granted because the game would get REALLY complex
real quick.
I think they do this to keep the game playable.
Also, I think that the rear temperature can be adjusted by adjusting the
weight jacks.

-----------
I think stagger is measured on the circumference, and the rear track is
probably wider than 5'. The total actual difference on the geometry is quite a
bit smaller than your numbers show.
