Seems to float....any suggestions

I just started using NASCAR 4.  I had become pretty decent with NASCAR 3.
It seems that the car floats left and right without moving the wheel.  It
seems like I'm continually correcting.  Besides that the tracks seem
narrower in 4 than 3 is that my imagination?
I went back and ran NASCAR 3 and it seemed like it "floats" now and it
didn't before.  I have the updated version of NASCAR 4, the latest driver
for the wheel, and the latest driver for the video card.
Is there something in my settings or car set-up?

I'm running Pentium III 600 192 RAM
Thrustmaster Digital Wheel
Voodoo 4 4500 video

Thanks

Are you mistaking the pull to the left that most setups display?  Try
choosing the arcade driving or the easy setup and see if the motion goes
away.  If so, that is normal, the car WILL move to the left when driving
straight, this is due to the increased physics that the car reacts to in
both the setup and the physical shape(banking) of the tracks.

Play with your linearity settings.

They are realistic, it's all what counts even if they are narrower.

That seems to help a lot.  With the linearity setting at 20% it is much
better.  I guess I'll get used to the narrower tracks as I run more races.
Thanks for your help.

Tried it with 100% linear and deadzone set to 0?  Many find that the
most precise setting.

What did you change it *from*?  Full linear?  I switched to full linear based
on my experiences with GPL, and recommendations for N4.  There are tracks that
I canNOT drive in N4 with that setting...

I changed it from 80% linear.  I had set it there based on reading somewhere
to set at 0 for joystick and closer to 100% for a wheel.  Had forgotten that
setting until after reading responses to my original post.
