Matt ..

Although there are better controllers out there, I have always been very
pleased with my Thrustmaster Nascar Pro Racing Wheel.

It has never left me wanting for more. I truly love it.

Here's the cheapest place I could find it for you ..

AccessMicro.com
949-851-8128

It is listed there at $51

I paid $129 for mine about a year ago. I have had absolutely no problems
with it in my vigorous "Dethkarz" mania. That game trips me out ..
unsurpassed, in my book, at least.

Hope it helps ..

I must concur I have the "sprint" version which I believe he's talking about
and it rocks.

Hey guys, I'm a newcomer to this driving game stuff, can I get some opinions
about good steering wheels for the PC?  I'd like good quality, but want to
keep it fairly cheap.  Hints about where to get 'em cheap are appreciated,
too.

Thanks,

Matt

I have a Thrustmaster 2 steering wheel and pedals I'd sell for $25
plus shipping. Good set, but I got an Act-Labs Force RS recently
(Which I am ecstatic about, BTW).

I forget what it's called, but there's a new Thrustmaster wheel that has the
gas and brake paddles behind the wheel itself (like their old Grand Prix 1
did) and it works very well. You can get one at a Sam's Club for less than
$40.

It's called the NASCAR Charger... and if it holds up as well as my GP1 wheel,
it's well worth the money. Also, you don't have to mess around with
floor-mounted pedals if you're not completely sim (not sim-ple)-minded! ;)

Amen to that! My GP1 has been a hoss for about 3 years running. It still
works great, I only upgraded for the force feedback effects.

I love racing games, and the paddle controls for brake and gas never
bothered me at all. Some people I know prefer the paddles over peddles.

Yesterday i bought a Logitech Wingman Formula (Yellow) because my Nascar Pro
was giving me some problems lately. The Nascar was fine for the last two
years, but i was getting tired of changing pots, springs, etc, on a frequent
basis lately.

My first impression of the Logitech was good but the pedals are the weak
link i beleive, but i'm getting used to them after a night of GPL. The
Steering on the other hand is much better than the Nascar Pro i found out.
Maybe it's the USB but when i turn the car wheels to check them in the pits,
they turn smoothly now compare to the Nascar.

....

I must agree. Is there anything out that can even compair? I wish they
would invent a Dethkarz II. Do you think we could get ahold of the
source code and do it ourselves? How hard would it be to code something
that cool from scratch? What language would you use? C++?

I'm just a stupid disc jockey, Patrick .. but if I can help in any way shape
facet or form .. count me on board ..

just some new tracks and new weapons would be enough for me.

You could take that game, Uprising and the original Motoracer and pass the
full mark on the game quotient meter. For all-time.

Well .. until I played NBA2K .. (review forthcoming)
