BGN Release Delayed

According to CUC Software (The Number listed on Sierra Online) the BGN
expansion pack has been delayed until Christmas!

Nice job Sierra. You want to push more freakin' vaporware my way? What buncha
***s, nice job. I'm sorry for being crass but I'm really kinda pissed
about this. It's freakin' October 16th, No SODA, no BGN, and no GD NRO! WHo
the hell is running that place? All I can say is I hope MS kicks the shit out
 of Sierra!

I'm usually on Sierra's side here and I'm definitely not blaming any
programmers or developers. It's the freakin' suits that***me off. If
something is not ready, don't tell me it will be.

SCREW YOU SIERRA!!!!!

Be careful about what you wish for . . .

And if I were looking for a company with a long, proud tradition of
shipping software when it was initially promised, I am not sure that
I would pick Microsoft to be my standard-bearer.

Now go get that medication refilled, and I hope you feel better soon.

Walk, don't always believe what you hear.  You get someone at CUC
software that thinks SODA is a coca-cola simulation and you could get
bad info.  SODA and BGN both went gold and testing has been over for
awhile.  If these titles do not make it on the shelve in October, it
won't be because it was not done.  There could be alot of other factors
involved in the delay that none of us know.....publisher problems,
delivery problems..or a deep conspirasy just to***you off....who
knows.

Like I said....it is/was ready last I knew.  Once again, I have plenty
else to drive if it does not make it when I thought it would be here.

BGN Release Delayed

Funny thing software development is. It's not just the suits, it's the
nature of marketing meeting the nature of programming.

When you sell to stores, you have to give projected release dates WAY
in advance. And the reality of programming is that things jump up  and
bite you, and sometimes they aren't easily found, much less fixed.

And remember there are 72 gazillion comboos  of chips and cards to
figure in that end-users will have.

Yes, of course sometimes companies are incredibly -- maybe even
illegally --- ludicrous in release estimates, resulting in late or
too-early ultra-buggy releases.

I'm no apologist for those obscenities.

But much of the time, it's a surprise that delays things, not a fraud
or even a screw-up.

And it can even vary within companies. Some Sierra divisions are very
good at putting out solid, debugged stuff on time. OTOH, there's Front
Page Sports... which put out very, VERY buggy stuff that I cannot
believe got through beta. Papy is better than most,  IMO.  N1 and ICR2
were solid, N2 got patched pretty quickly.

Yes, let's blast those companies that do vaporware over and over
again. But let's also be mature and realistic about programmming and
marketing.

Oh, and I am no fan whatsoever of CUC, whiich handles Sierra's
mail-orders.

Funny I was thinking about how much I see people complaining about
software released with bugs, and "WHERE IS THE PATCH?", and how come
they didn't add this or do that? I am has I CAN"T WAIT as the next guy
but I don't like the I CAN'T DO IT RIGHT BUT I CAN DO IT TWICE theory.
Why slam the companies for being late on a release. It doesn't do any
good. Of course I am sure the same people will be out at the stores,
cash in hand, as soon as it hits the shelves. Hope they open the store
on time. Be a shame to have to wait for the manager to unlock the door a
few minutes late to buy software that got released late.

They lied.

You should have the software by this weekend.

Why is everyone so quick to pull the trigger before checking the
other posts?

SODA is a week or so away (gone to press), BGN should hit the
store shelves this weekend, and NROS will be here before <insert
favorite date here>

Ymenard, of course!!

Doubt they'll do so to Papyrus though.  ;)

It's soup!!

Wow...Looks like you need a dose of Dr. Sims Magic Snake Oil.

Cheers!

I suspect they are confusing the bgn track pack with Nascar Manager. I
suspect the track pack will be in the stores any day.

BGN Release Delayed

I found this in the NASCAR On Line Saturday notebook section for Fontana
.
I did take a ride to a CompUSA here in CT, nothing on the shelves yet.
I'm sure when it does hit the stores and someone finds it, they post the
news before they run the install. It would only be proper driver
etiquette!

Papyrus Design Group, a division of Sierra On-Line, Inc., announced its
NASCAR Grand National Series Expansion Pack is shipping to retail stores
this week. The Expansion pack includes 12 new tracks and 30 new drivers,
each with their car and team. LaJoie, Park, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.,
tested
their driving skills as the three raced the new California Speedway on
the
computer. Park defeated the defending champion LaJoie, but Earnhardt,
Jr.
blew away Park in the second match.

Take a trip to Victory Lane for some good old weekend short trackin'!
