F! 2000 telemetry: where is it?

by Julie et Patrick Ferlan » Mon, 10 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I've been driving F1 sim since the 1996 Grand prix 2 version. So I drove F1
racing simulator and Monaco Grand Prix from Ubisoft as well as GPL from
Sierra.

For me, a game claiming to be as real as it could be in F1 world as to have
telemetry data avalaible. My fun in those sims has always been to get the
best setup for my car before going racing, and that is only achieve by using
telemetric data (except in GPL which wanted to reproduce the 1967 season).

I can't believe that this feature is not present in F1 2000. I feel like
i've been cheated by EA Sport and want my money back.

Also, MGPRS2 looks much clearer on the visual point of view and you don't
need a Pentium 1200 MHZ with 256 M RAM to race 21 opponents with all the
features on.......

Shame on EA Sports.

Are you kidding me? They put it in the PS version and not in the PC version?
They sure know how to treat us with respect...

Well. AFAIK it does not have a properly implemented flag system either
- or any other F1 rule for that matter. So much for the 'F1
simulation' aspect of this weird piece of software.

Of course, a game that is supposed to be a 'F1 simulation' should be
able to run a full field of (semi-intelligent) AI cars at a decent
framerate, otherwise it's pretty useless as such. As is F1 2000.

That they went to the trouble of releasing a sim and not a playstation
(arcade) game, why the ***y heck would they do this.
