I finally got that 486 motherboard and was able to get
Indycar Racing. Needless to say I've been immensely
impressed.
I am experiencing a soundboard related systems crash, though,
and wondered if anyone could offer me any advice, short of
buying a new sound card.
My system: 486DLC 40mhz
5 meg ram
AMI bios
Thunderboard Adlib/SoundBlaster compatible
Ahead SVGA (non-local bus)
Thrustmaster FCS into sound card gameport.
Logitech mouse
IndyCar Racing ver 1.04
3dbench rating is 17.5 fps
Symptoms: With 8 tracks loaded no road texturing is
possible though all other graphic options
seem to be available.
While driving the screen freezes, though the
sounds continue (usually terminating in a loud
crash). Pressing ESC restores the screen (with
my car piled up on a wall, and the joystick
still works, but the keyboard no longer works.
I have to reboot.
This happens much faster during a race, no
matter how many other drivers. In fact it always
happens before the completion of the 1st lap on
road courses, and within the 1st 2 laps on an
oval.
If sound is turned off, the bug goes away.
I have frigged endlessly with sound board parameters to no
avail. If any one can help I'd be very grateful.
