Get DARKLIGHT before wasting your cash on XvT

Well after finishing XvT in a few short hours (hell - there were only 16 or so
missions) I decided to try Darklight Conflict.

DLC is 500% better than XvT in EVERYWAY!!!

Graphics.  Everything is shaded, lightsourced and smoothly modeled and rendered.

XvT adds some minor textures to the Tie Fighter engine

SFX:  Realtime lensflare, light sourcing from Sun, engines, lasers, etc.

XvT adds some minor lightsourcing on laser blasts but that's about it.

Missions:  50 plus SOLO missions (with multiple stages in each mission) set in a

good campaign model with adequate storyline

XvT has about 16 missions which can be played SOLO with NO STORY.
Play the missions in any order - it doesn't matter.

Sound:  Great techno soundtrack and the computer voice kicks ass - if anyone
remembers the MPC from TRON then you'll love this voice.

XvT has great music but little speech and what speech there is is
annoying as hell.   Same sound bites over and over....

Multiplay: Supports network play which means its fully compatible with KALI

XvT was designed as a multiplayer game so why does it suck so bad?
Outlaws did it better and it came out first!  10-15 minute setup time to
initiate a m-player game and no way to join a game in progress.    The
same machine which will run DLC smooth as glass will have XvT creeping
        in multi-player mode.

Replay:  Arcade model for instant action with scoring.  Mulitplayer modes.

I couldn't find much of a reason to play XvT the FIRST time.  With no
story to connect the missions it was basically a big ARCADE game.  I
suppose the m-player aspect could have added some extra life to this
title but with all those problems (see above)  who wants to mess with
         it.

Price: DLC can be found almost anywhere for $39 and someplace as low as $29

XvT is $50 - the cheapest I've seen in stores.  I paid $52 to have it
delivered to my door direct from Lucas.    Just doing the match says it

        all:  DLC=$40 / 50 missions=.80/mission
              XvT=$50 / 16 missions=$3.10/mission

Believe me - NONE of those missions are worth $3.

Of course these are just my opinions - I'm sure there are plenty of Star Wars
fans and Lucas worshippers who will be blinded by their devotion but in the case
of these 2 games - DARKLIGHT CONFLICT is a better VALUE and a better GAME!

Well first of all, remember that TIE-fighter was named the best game
ever by PCGamer.  'Cause XvT is TIE-fighter with all better points, I
don't know you tell that XvT is a shit game.

Maybe but in 16bit color with high resolutions it rocks.  And everything
is shaded, lightsourced and smoothly modeled and rendered also.

XvT adds also light sourcing from engines and lasers.  And there's no
sun in XvT.

XvT has exactly 42missions (count for each side and XvT is a MULTIPLAYER
GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MULTIPLAYER GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, don't compare cheap techno music to Jonh Williams magestic
soundtrack.  XvT has the best music score ever.  If you don't hear the
voices, just turn them louder in the sound option menu!!  And there's
more than 2000 speechs in XvT.  Don't lie with this.  And it's never the
same thing.

Well well...  Look like you don't read the instructions.  It took me
3minutes to configure XvT and it's hell fast on the 'net.  And it's
faster than Nascar2 on Kali.

Don't you ever go to Lucasart's website.  They say that they will patch
a replay mode in XvT: Battle of Endor cd add-on.  With the death star,
etc.

Well you can find it at 30$ in Wal-mart.  And it's not 'cause the game
is 52$ instead of 39$ that a StarWars fan like me will not buy it.
Moron.

XvT=30$ / 42 missions=.71per mission  not bad!!!

If want just blast-em off mission don't buy XvT.  It's really with your
head that you will finish XvT.  And just like that, how many points do
you have??  And what grade are you??

I'm a hell of a Star Wars fans and it's not 'cause of you that I will
change my vision of the game.  It's the best space sim ever.  It's my
opinion and alos of 90% of all REAL REAL REAL starwars fans.  AND THIS
IS REC.AUTOS.SIMULATORS.  NOT ALT.GAMES.XVT.  GO THERE TO POST THIS.  IF
I REPLIED TO YOU IT WAS 'CAUSE I'M AN BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG STAR WARS
FAN AND I DON'T LOVE PEOPLE SAYING THAT STARWARS IS SHIT.  THIS IS A 1/2
FLAME 1/2 MY OPINION.  ALSO WAIT FOR JEDI KNIGHT 2.  IT WILL BE BETTER
(I HOPE) THAN QUAKE.

If you'd care to continue this discussion in the flight-sim group I'll be happy
to TORCH YOUR ASS over there.  I won't begin to dispute facts on a non-racing
game in this newsgroup or I might subject myself to flames from those who would
be "worthy" to flame me.

So step outside and into the flight-sim group and I'll beat you up over
there.....

P.S. X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter STILL SUCKS!!

Hmmmmmm...  No.

I'm not the type of guy who love to flame others.  I just mentionned my
opinion about the XvT game and that your post wasn't appropriate for
r.a.s.  Sorry but there's a lot of other person on Xvt.scorched.net that
will have a pleasure to dispute about the game.  Even if I dispute about
XvT, none of us will change our opinion about the game.  So no way I
will waste my time saying to you XvT don't sucks.  And I think you have
other things to do than saying XvT sucks also (I hope!).  I just said my
opinions and I respected yours also.  And IMHO I don't want to waste
space on other newsgroup that I ever went to.  I just want here in
r.a.s. to have a clean place to discust about SimRacing games.  So I'm
not a chicken.  It's just that I have other things to do than start a
flaming post with you.  I never said that you are a moron.  I respect
you like anybody here in r.a.s.  My purpose here is to make people
HAPPY!HAPPY!HAPPY! I hope you respect my opinions,
