MAJOR PROBLEM

Hello all,
I have been having some trouble with my controllers.  I recently
reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled all of my games.  I have a
Logitech Formula force USB in one USB port and I have a Saitek X36 flight
sitck and throttle/rudder combo USB in the other USB port.

I can't get Sports Car GT to recognize the Logitech stick or allow
me to assign controls to it.  The game just doesn't see it.  I did get it
to work in Need for Speed High Stakes though.  Althoughit was a little
strange there because the game would not allow me to select Force Feedback
but I felt the effects in the game.  Also, when I tried to assign controls
to the buttons and axes, the assignment looked as though they didn't work
onthe menu, but it worked in the game.

Also, in a related issue, I have Jane's USAF installed and running
but it won't recognize the Saitek stick.  It doesn't see it at all.

Both of the controllers are installed and working correctly as far
aas Windows is concerned.

I also have all of the latest drivers so that shouldn't be a
problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might fix my problem?

        Thanks in advance...

This is probably a long shot, but I was having intermittent problems
with my LWFF wheel last week.  After reinstalling the drivers,
unplugging/replugging the USB connection, etc, etc, I tried checking
around the pedals to see if there was anything wrong (I have the stock
LWFF pedals).  Well, I had forgotten that there was a removable plug
down there too.  I unplugged and re-seated the plug, and Viola! it
worked again.

So, that might be something to try, unless you were more observant
that I was and tried it already.

Are you running Direct-X 7?

I had no end of problems with DX7 and USB controllers, and finally
reinstalled Windows and went back to DX6.1.  Not even MS's stuff works right
with USB and DX7.

Sounds like DirectX 7.

If you are running DirectX 7, upgrade to 7a asap.

DX7 breaks a _lot_ of controllers, especially Microsoft stuff.  Yeah, I
found that ironic, too :)
