GP2...an amazing Monza story

Hi all,
I have a story of an amazing Monza finish I had last night (I'm so
revved up I have to tell you all about it).  I'm on my 1st rookie season
after turning off steering help and have been finishing very poorly (when I can
keep my car on the track long enough to finish :)  But Monza's where I
do all my test driving so I was hopeful I'd have a good run...I bypassed
qualifying and started last...made up about half the field into the
opening chicane...eventually I found myself in 2nd with 1 lap to go behind
Ricardo Patrese (I use my all time fave F1 drivers rather than a specific
season roster).  Coming out of parabolica I was about 5 car lengths behind
but gaining...I caught up, tucked in behind Patrese and somehow slipstreamed
around him to get the flag by less than a car length!  I was amazed I made up so
much ground and won!  So, I saved the replay and viewed it from several
angles...I definitely got the flag 1st but still something seemed strange.
I ran the replay from Patrese's***pit and saw this...he exits parabolica
and shifts into 5th.  The instant he hits red line, a "Water Leak" message
comes up and his revs drop...a second later I fly by for the win...Damn, this
is a great game!

I have a similar(?) story from Spa, racing semi pro level with no
aids.  It was the final lap and I was leading.  As I exited the Bus
Stop my transmission failed.  Fortunately I had enough of a lead and
enough momentum to coast over the line in first, and not have my win
"pinched" ;-)  I still have the replay somewhere.

I had a very similar expierence today (15 Nov).  Racing at Aida, wa in
first place at around 22 seconds ahead of Hill on the last lap and guess
what??  Yup, my car broke down 2 corners from the end, just before the
fast right hander.  Transmission problem was the cause and a very
frustrated moi, almost had my first proper win (running a full season
and finished 5th at Brazil)

Still love the game and now know how Mansell felt at Canada back in
91/92 when he conked out on the last lap.

Happy racing
