Twilight Zone??

by John Marti » Tue, 06 Aug 1996 04:00:00

I've been playing GP2 for 2 solid weeks now,so I switched back to
ICR2,just to keep up to speed on it.
Now,I'm finding that I can't turn the ***y cars,even at a crawl,they
will go straight ahead on a corner, unless I almost stop!...since
plaaying it last,I've upgraded it and added the new car and track A1 etc
for the NASCAR tracks I am running on ICR2...

Was it always this mushy in the front-end,or have one of the
upgrades, done a dirty deal on me(or is it because I've been playing
GP2).

Has anyone else experienced this???...It's almost unplayable!!

Would appreciate any thoughts,anyone has.

Thanks,
John.

Just my opinion, mind you, but I have always noticed
that ICR2 is that way. I have never been able to get
any enjoyment out of the "road courses" with it. It is
simply NOT that hard to keep a car in a corner/curve.
In ICR2 you sprint to the corner, almost stop, crawl
through the curve, then sprint to the next corner and
so on. GP2 is vastly more smooth in producing what a
car handles like, and, for that matter, it is a great
deal more fun as well.

Ducking and heading for cover.

PS love ICR2 on the ovals...did I mention that...hehehe

I really enjoyed ICR2 on the road courses, but could never manage the
ovals! Can't please everyone all of the time, I guess <g>

I _did_ enjoy going round Loudon in ICR1 with boost set to 9 & foot to
the floor. Way too easy of course, but it did create some great
moments coming up to a bunch of back markers <G>

Just a thought, but have you been using steering assistance with GP2?

I really like the 'rhythm' (sp?) of the ovals. Those
back straights at Michigan at 230+ are great. I also
like the drift of getting off the gas and not using
the brake to 'cruise' through the oval turns. Drafting
is another great point of ovals.
Focus is another aspect of the ovals that is great.
When racing an oval your concentration really gets
going. I've run into the wall on several races when
someone in the room spoke to me, breaking the focus.
Also think that there is a lot of strategy in ovals.
I'm not saying more, just a lot of strategy.

I found this as well. Have you patched it up to 1.02? Makes a hell of a
difference - makes roads worth driving!

Cheers!
