N4 look and run well on my PC?

by pw » Fri, 09 Mar 2001 03:24:28

Hi,

I really want to goof off this afternoon, do a little fishing (it is
so beautiful outside today!), then head to town to pick up Nascar 4.
I am reading a review of it now at www.cdmag.com

Sounds like it needs a big-time beefy system.  I am not sure if mine
can handle it, although it purrs through flight sims like CFS2, EECH,
and FPSes like UnDying and UT at resolutions of 1024x768 and higher.
NFS: Porsche and MS Moto 2 are fluid too.

I have an Athlon 700 with 256MB RAM, and a Hercules GeForce Prophet 2
GTS Pro.

Thanks,

-pw

Your machine will run it just fine. But, I'd still go fishing.  :)  PS:
There are a few custom made fishing related cars you can drive as your own!!

No, Really?!!  You mean I could put a "Penn Reels" sponsor (well, I
just fly fish, so out with Penn :-) or whatever on my car?

That cdmag/CGM review may have just changed my mind about N4.  I don't
have the patience for the AI, especially the part about damaged cars
often staying on the track, rather than getting cleared.  What a pain!
And the cars constantly pulling to the left (I know, it's realistic)
must be a pain too.

Thanks,

The pull really isn't noticeable for me.  I tried it with a T2 and TM-FF
(Modena 360 wheel) and both are not a problem.  Now, if your running
100% FF strength you might get tired, but at 50% it's no problem-O.

Jason.

Some people do nothing wrong.
The problem is, they do nothing.
And THAT is wrong.

I would be playing it with a joystick (CH F-16 Fighterstick).  Perhaps
if I enjoy this game, I will purchase a wheel.  But, I am not sure how
that would work, as I already have a stick, throttle, and rudder
pedals (which I could use as gas and brake - CH Pro Pedals) all hooked
up to a CH game card. I have a Diamond MX300 sound card.  Had to get
the gamecard as the voltage/amps weren't enough for my stick, etc..

There aren't USB driving wheels, are there?

Thanks,

-pw

Im playing on a celeron 500 and i just turn down the eye candy. Frame rates
are good enough to compete online .
Sometimes the framerate goes to 20s but its so realistic that it doesnt
really hurt my driving. Higher frames would be better though . :)
