NFS2 support Direct X?

NFS2 support Direct X?

Someone straighten me out on this. Does NFS2 support direct X. If it
does, how does the graphics speed compare to the motoracer demo? Since I
finally got my bad Reactor exchanged for a new Intense 3D 100, I went
back and tried the motoracer demo. In the meantime I also installed
Direct X 5. I can't believe how fast it is and how good it looks
(especially with filtering turned on). If NFS2 looks this good and is as
fast I'll buy it, and probably any of the new sims if and when they
support it.

Don't confuse DirectX with Direct3D.  The Direct3D is what makes MotoRacer
scream.

As of yet I'm still struggling with miserable frame rates in NFS2 with a
P166 o/c to 200 and 32 MEG's with a Mystique.

A patch "may" be coming from EA.

Glenn

I thought Direct 3D was a component of Direct X just like Direct Sound,
Direct Draw, etc. At least that's the way it looks to me. So is it that
some games written for Win95 use Direct Draw but not Direct 3D? What
does NFS2 use?

Matt, perhaps you're confusing DirectX and Direct3D?
MotoRacer is Direct3D accelerated, NFS2 isn't.
I read that Electronic Arts had an accelerated version of NFS2 at
the E3 show, but I don't know when (if) they're planning to do
anything with it.

Tim,

From what I understand, DirectX is a set of drivers.  Software authors must
take advantage of its components.  Some use Direct3D acceleration, others
(NFS2) don't.
