ICR2: I need pointers

can someone explain how to enter a corner without slipping?
I'm usually a keybrd guy but this icr2 is making me wish I had a joystick.

I've learnt a couple of things so far.

*Never hit the brakes while you're turning the corner

*Never hit the brakes while one of your tires is on grass

*Never turn the car ***ly when you're on grass

*Slow wayyyyyyy down in a double curve.

ok good pointers so far but then I can't get up to speed with that. I use
the "Fast" car settings and set AI cars to 95% and I struggle to come in
last but one.

for example at Australia. there's this wicked double curve that I can't
get by except I run on the grass. One day I followed this AI car it it
took the curve at reasonable speed without touching the grass. It's
impossible man!

Well....all I can add is don't accelerate before you pass the apex
(middle of the turn).

Heck....go on the grass if it improves your speed....that's what I do

Other things to add: get a joystick; better, get a wheel and pedals.
Trail braking helps keep weight on the front wheels, lessening the
understeer on entry. You can't do this with the keyboard, which is an
all or nothing button. Until you get your pedals, use the auto-braking
feature. I understand from some other post that you can turn this on and
off from the keyboard (alt+B). This way, you would drive with
auto-braking off, but hit alt+B when you need to brake for a corner,
and hit alt+B again on exit (to turn it off to delay braking for the
next corner). Auto-braking is very conservative, and will slow you way
early on entry. Hitting Alt+B this way allows you *some* control.

Ummm, question for you: how do you *not* turn ***ly using the
keyboard?

=========
The chicanes are deadly fun. I don't know what fun you have doing this
with the keyboard. The most fun for me is balancing traction at its
limits with very fine, smooth action on the controls. As in real life,
smoothness is the key. You can't do that with the keyboard controls.

try pressing it down for a long time. I've learnt to control the moves of
the car by pressing the keyboard at short regular interval. If you keep it
down for long while moving over grass you'll slip sideways.

to a certain degree, I'll say you cant. The best way is to press the
accelerator until almost at the edge of the chicane.. the leave it and let
the car roll forwards through the chicane while guiding it will quick
presses of the keybrd.. after you're clear hit gas gain. It works perfect.
I've seen myself sometimes clear it faster than the AI cars.. just that it
has to be perfect for like 30 laps or you're doomed.

You must mean the second chicane. Ease off the gas, hold your breath,
and jiggle the wheel. (gently! :)
