Sure is a pretty game but give me the handling and physics of Insane and
we might have a good game.

Is Evo2 any better?

Check out Screamer 4x4 - it's a good 4x4 sim' (despite the arcadey sounding
name) if that's what you're after.  It does need a 1.2GHz+ machine to run
propoerly though....

In my opinion, 4x4 2 is not better.  It is different, but not better.  The
trucks still have very bizarre and unexpected handling characteristics.  You
can learn to drive them and then have a lot of fun doing so, but if realism
is what you're after, you'll need to look elsewhere.  The one saving grace
for the Evo games, IMO,  is the wealth of user-made tracks.  So before you
write off the series entirely, check out www.vales.com and download some of
the user-made addons.  In fact, you can check out some of mine if you care
to ;-).

I beg to differ.  Screamer 4x4 is indeed a wonderful 4x4 game/sim.  I
heartily recommend it.  At 20$ it has to be one of the entertainment
bargains of the year.

I run it "properly" on a p3/1G with 512 meg and a GeForce 2 ti 500. Im doing
it 1024x768x32. There is no real frame rate problem and the eye candy is
intact.

I installed it upstairs, too (Celeron 400 o/c to 450, 256 meg, Voodoo4 4500)
and it runs acceptably in 640x480x16 with some of the eye candy shut off.  I
dont think I would be happy trying to run it like that all the time, but
thats what the 1Ghz machine is for.

Telling someone they need a 1.2Ghz+ macine to run it well is just not true.

Drivers error '80040e07'
