has become imprecise.
I took the lid off to see what's going on. The shaft
into the big bearing is firmly connected to the wheel. On
the other side of the bearing, the cams and spacers also
make a solid unit, but these two rigid components turn
independently of each other. Hold the cams still and you
can turn the wheel about 15 degrees.
I took the pot out to see if a broken shaft would slip
out of the bearing, but I can not see any slop along the
length of the shaft. It's just a rotational thing.
I'm posting this on Friday, friends are coming over for
racing tomorrow. Am I going to have to disappoint them?
If anybody can identify my problem, and offer suggestions
on resolving it, I would appreciate it.
I know Andy will make this good, but I need it tomorrow.
The unit is slightly more than a year old. The steering
pot and a pedal spring broke when it was new, but it's been
sweet after that. I couldn't imagine a nicer feel.
Suggestions?
Thanks
Larry.
