>Jesus christ.
>Papyrus has a collection of FREE DOWNLOADABLE DEMOS at their ftp site.
>If that is not your idea of "a right to test", then what is?

Yeah, really. I think that guys is just jelous because Microprose is
unable to compete with Papyrus in terms of racing sims.

I do agree that these Products are not PERFECT, But they are the best
Racin Sims on the Market at the Present time!

ICR2 is the most irritating game I have ever played, but I have to
admit that it is also by far the best computer game I've ever played.
That may seem contradictory, but after playing it for 3 months, that
is how I feel about it. I think other people feel like this, and
that's why they post such irritable messages.

Papyrus clearly has the talent to write amazingly engaging and
***ive games. But with ICR2, they seem to have missed a lot of
details that would have made the game more enjoyable. As it is, it has
basically no frills (other than it's excellent replay ability). Maybe
this is great for racing leagues, and for those rare times I  really
can shoot 3 hours at a shot for a full race. But *sometimes* I want to
just sit and be in the middle of a race for 20 minutes, and when I
crash, I want to just jump back in where I was without racing around
alone for 15 laps. I also want more time-efficient ways of trying out
new setup changes (maybe during a race, for instance), and it would be
nice to have a "take-back" feature,  so you can jump back in and try
different approachs around a corner . Also, why not put in at least
some basic, elementary line analysis, something that gives some
statistics on where you were and what your times were on the track?
Speaking of stats, time breakdowns, etc- there is so much more Papyrus
could do there. At least put dates on your track best- half the time I
break my record, and don't even realize it. Papyrus should obviously
keep what they have- but there is a lot of user-configurable things
they could add to it that would make the game a lot more universal.
They'd probably make a lot more money, too- if more people could/would
use it than just hard-core racers.

I heard a few people complain that a "take-back" feature would ruin
the game for the racing leagues- but remember, you can basically do it
now anyway, by immediately aborting and saving the race, then
restarting it. As it is I just hit <shift>-R, since it is too tedious
to quit and restart the track.

Maybe Papyrus should hire out a second set of programmers to put
frills in to the game, give it a more interesting interface. I am not
suggeting the touch the actual racing part- they did an amazing job on
that. Even though it is hard as hell,  I think it is fair. But
beginning racers will be angry as hell with it; even 80% is too hard
for beginners (was for me- I'm at 100% now on Long Beach and Laguna,
but I don't think everybody is going to work at the game as  long as I
did, the way it is). Also, beginners wind up spinning out constantly.
Papyrus should come up with something better than their "spin
recovery", which is so *painfully* slow and disables you while it is
turning...

I'm looking forward to GP2- not because I think the racing will be
better than ICR2, but because I am hoping it will be as good racing an
a lot less irritating.
