Multiple control devices - stick "splitters" - suggestions?

by P.. » Sun, 23 Feb 1997 04:00:00

I have an analog joystick, and a GP1 wheel.

Can anyone suggest a "splitter" that'll allow me to keep both
connected to my gameport, and switch between them?

Given that the GP1 uses two sticks' axes (unless the converter is
used) will such a splitter cause problems?

I'm not just looking to save time & effort (tho that's reason enough!)
- but I'm concerned not to be plugging and unplugging connectors
regularly - I assume damage might result from wear & tear.  Can anyone
put my mind at rest?

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

I use the "Alfa Twin", a dual joystick auto switch for pc's.
You get a joystick port connector for your pc, which has a six foot cable
attached to a dual joystick connector, (so you can connect from the front
of your pc).
You can connect two joysticks, joypads, wheels, or pedals, and the switch
will automatically detect which one you are using. you can also cascade
up to three alfa twins, using four separate joysticks.

You can see it advertised in many pc mags, I bought mine from Special
Reserve(mail order) for around 15.
It is manufactured by Alfa Data.
