Slowdown at Long Beach

Slowdown at Long Beach

I have been getting very slow frame rates while going around the
curve on the start/finish straight on the converted Long Beach
track.  It seems to be worse if i take a wide line, if I stay
close to the pit wall it ain't so bad.  Anyone else experainced
this?

Hey Chris are you using a Rendition Vid card?  The Herc Thriller or
Diamond Stealth II?  If so try running the sim with a -4 after the .exe
statement, this will limit the textures to 4bit textures and speed up
the frame-rate.  The slowdown is especially noticable near the pits on
some tracks.

No, I have a Voodoo 2 12mb.  I also notice slowing down round
the last bend at Watkins Glen (original).  I guess it's not a
major problem in isolated spots.  I just remember to not try any
wild moves at these corners.

Is this in training or single race practice/qual? In single race
practice/qualifying I get slowdown coming off the last corner in Watkins
Glen too, but that is due to the amount of AI cars sitting in the pits. It's
the same as at a race start, only instead of all the cars chewing up CPU
time on the grid, they are off to the side chewing up time in the pits.

You may have something there, I havn't really compared race to
practice but I will have a go and see if there is any differance.
