'Ring fever takes hold

There seems to be a lot of us starting to tackle the 'Ring over the past
couple of weeks for some reason or another so I though I'd relate my
'success' to you all. How is everyone else who is trying it getting on? (Not
including Huttu & friends of course - they are miles ahead as far as I'm
concerned).

Well, I've gotten past the first hurdle & I can now get round the track
without coming off. You may laugh, but it has taken me ***y ages to manage
that. Phase one complete.

Now I have done what seemed impossible when I first tried the 'Ring a year &
a half ago - I have actually broken the 9:00.00 barrier, 8:50.52 to be
precise. I am a happy man.
Sad really, 'cause I'm still a minute off the top guys. Back to practice I
suppose.

The one  thing I found that helps is to drive Spa to death & get used to
longer laps - helps to concentrate the mind & make less mistakes. Not so bad
dumping the car into the scenery at the Glen, the start line isn't far away
for the next lap, but it's a *** & a half if you ruin it at Spa or the
Ring.

I still spin about 3 times a lap but my best lap is 8:45, on a lap I looped it
three times on and hit the wall twice on.

Aha. You guys are good enough to measure your skills in minutes and seconds.
I'm not. My PB at the Ring is no flipovers and just 4 spins.
