Does anyone know if "Knockhill Raceway" in Scotland is being produced for
GPL, or any other current sim?

I just watched at touring car race there on Speedvision......what a great
little race track!

It's one of the best, isn't it?!

By the way, would you blame Steve Soper (Peugeot) or Phil Bennett (Vauxhall)
for that collision?!  ;-)

You can get it for SCGT, as someone converted it from TOCA 2.

It would be *great* in some other sims...  NASCAR 4!  ;-)

I'm 100000000000000000% sure that if "someone" made the tools avilible - you
would see lots of great tracks for N4....   but sadly that dont seem to be
the case :-(

I just did a quick search of our GPL track editing forum at
http://forum.racesimcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=19.  Someone
mentioned that they were making it but were having problems with the final
hairpin.  Apparently the track editors don't like parallel straights that
almost touch, a la Mexico.  This was in May 2001 BTW.

What do they say about great minds Tom....I just left a message yesterday
on BHMS forum to get it converted to Nascar Heat for DTM racing.
Those curbed turns at the peak of a hill really intrigue me...

It's been made for SCGT although there is no pit support.  So you have to
run two sprint races (I don't think the BTCC ever had a pitstop at Knockhill
until this year anyway).

Parenthetically I hate Knockhill.  Hated it in TOCA. Hated it in TOCA2. Hate
it now. And I'm Scottish.  It's such a rinky-dink little circuit I can't get
into a rhythm.  Like the Sachsenring (the SCGT conversion is from GP500
prior to the straightening out of the back stretch).
No offence to the hard working track converters its the tracks I don't like
not the conversions. I just have a tough time on tight circuits, truth be
told I don't like the modern Monaco circuit either except for the history.
My problem.

If you want it and can't find it I'll send it to you.

I have most of the 2001 BTCC cars too if you want them.  I'm running a
season now and although I hate Knockhill it does imitate life well.  You
can't get a good time unless you clip the entry and exit apexes on the
chicane before Clark, (the one Thompson bit it at a few years back with a
Honda) and its pretty well 50-50 getting through or spinning out and causing
massive prangs.  With no pits it's pretty well a case of the walking wounded
by the end of the race.

  Thanks Euan,,,
I found a site with many of the toca tracks so I'll be clearing the dust off
my Dodge Stratus SCGT Super Tourer and checking Knockhill out.  Thanks for
pointing that out.

you are right, can't even start in the pits...no qualifying either that I
can figure out...But you can start at the back of a race.  Fun track with a
Super Tourer.  Hanging the backend out while the fronts claw over the
curbing.
Also loaded Oulton park,  Took me about 5 laps just to figure out the
various pathways through all the chicanes...I wish MORE tracks were open
like that so leagues could run different events at the same venue.  But of
course the cheating/shortcutting becomes a big factor.
Besides the lack of pits at Knockhill, my touring car install has become
very fragile, it crashes to desktop when I exit a race.  Not sure what's
causing that.

[ SCGT ]

Are the physics any good?  How is the front-wheel drive?

And, most importantly, where do you get 'em?!?!

I have NO clue as to the physics being good as in a good representation of
real life.  But you really know it's a front wheel drive car.  The back end
can slide way out but the fronts keep clawing and pull ya through most
corners.  I would suspect they have a little too much grip, but since I've
never been exposed to racing tires...I dunno.
Touring cars are available at many SCGT sites...the tracks...I just did a
google search for knockhill + SCGT and came upon them on about the third
link....  Great bouncy fun...If SCGT had better multiplayer, our TPTCC
league that is running DTM now would probably be using SCGT Touring Cars.

If you ask me it was Bennett's fault. He turned down on Soper. I also
thought he was totally unproffesional in the inverview after the race as
well. I hope Soper punts him again.

Just you wait until Croft, and the final race at Brands!  :-)

Sadly, the great Steve Soper has announced his retirement.  He won't be
driving in this year's BTCC.  :-(
