N3. Is it just a demolition derby or am I missing something?

Some friends and I have been playing N3 Online.  All of us are reasonably
safe drivers.  We've been running at Atlanta at 100% with Realistic damage
on and AI cars to fill the field of 43, 25% Length.

On N2 I play at 100%, and win from starting at the back of the field in a
35% race and will win 1 out of 4.

In N3, we seem to have a lot of accidents and few or none of them are caused
by the Human players.  In a 25% race tonight, I was leading with 20 to go.
We play with no yellows, thank god.  There was a wreck, once or twice PER
LAP down to 8 to go when I could no longer avoid the messes and hit a car,
damaging me beyond repair.

To say that the AI wrecks are inordinately plentiful is a gross
understatement.  Good lord, if the real Nascar guys did that, they'd carry
guns in the cars and shoot each other.

I've not noticed very many people complaining about this on the NG so I'm
wondering if anyone else is having similar results in their races.

I refuse to race online with damage on for this reason. All it takes is one
person with a subpar connection to cause problems out there. Everyone does
not have cable or DSL and some people's ISPs lose packets worse than others.
No real fault of the driver when all the cars disappear, I mean, they don't
like warping as much as anyone else does, but it's unfortunate. Also, simply
some people are just not that good at this, but they paid for the game (you
hope) and have as much right to be out there as anyone else. Different
driving styles, different controllers...some people use gamepads to race,
for cryin' out loud. Try racin' side-by-side around a turn using one of
those.

A lot of those wrecks are caused by not having yellows turned on. My
experience is that if you tell the AI to keep racing even when there is a
big accident on the track, that's exactly what they'll do. And of course,
that means the accident will just keep getting bigger.

this:

is why you get this:

if there's a wreck which results in a car being stopped in the wrong spot,
and there's no caution to cause them to slow down, they're just gonna keep
plowing into it.... like those massive wrecks that get started in
practice....

i beleive he was concerned with the AI (computer drivers) , and yes , they
do wreck quite a bit, there are 43 cars out there , and on a 1 mile track it
gets close
there are some poor drivers out there(AI) , even in actuality , i've seen
some stupid stuff on TV
i have been racing and hear the "you've got trouble in turn 4"  and i have
no way of knowing what happened , so i will pause , and look at replay , and
man you can see how crappy they are, BUT ! i must say when i'm driving
around them , in racing situations bumping and such, they are excellent !
very predictable and drive to not wreck ,

Excellent? So when AI is predictable, that's excellent? I would say the
opposite would be better: When you get in ones toe, woulnd't it be more fun
and exciting when you're not knowing where he'll go, instead of knowing
where he's gonna go.
When you're getting lined up to pass a AI car at for excample turn1 at
Michigan, you just know that you can get past it by going low. The N3 AI has
improved a lot but it's still too predictable.

BTW don't you hate it when you have to turn around all the way to recover
from a spin while the AI can spin around their axis? Now that's realism...
(not to mention that huuuuuuge toe-truck, bringing your wreck back to the
pits in one fluid motion). :)
