Who wants to race nascar or cart for that matter when you
can race FORMULA ONE! Thats real racing.
Just my two cents worth. Steve!

hello all,

I've seen a lot of posts requesting Papy take 1 aspect of Nascar, 1 aspect
of GPL, another aspect of Viper Racing to make another Nascar sim or GPL2.
My questions is....Why have most of you sim racers given up so quickly on
CART Racing 2?

Why not instead of reqeusting another Nascar or GPL sim; why not request
instead the 3rd version of one of the greatest open-wheel sims?

Ever heard of "back by popular demand"?

If we request it, they will make it.  If they make it, we will buy it.

Isn't a modern day CART sim by papy attractive to anyone?

Lets request a gpl type CART sim.

I think that a CART Title is far, far away..

The demand is not there.  Of course -we- , the hard-core gamers would give
anything for it, but remember they have a license until 2001.  The REAL
market for any racing title is not us. Forget about your fanboy dreams.  We
are NOTHING for them.  The mass market is what they care about.  And the
mass market just won't care about a CART Sim.  Nothing is pushing them.  And
their mentality has changed. They went from a traditional open-wheel sim
company :

Indy500
IndyCar Racing 1
Indy Expansion pack #1
Indy Expansion pack #2
Nascar 1
Nascar 1 track pack
IndyCar Racing 2

To now an almost exclusive Stock-car company :

Nascar2
N2 BGN
Nascar 50th anniversary
SODA
GPL
NR99
Craftman Truck series
N2000 (that dumbed down new title)
Nascar Legends

They are more in the money now.  The main *** market is in the USA.  The
main racing sport in the USA is Stock-car racing.  I somehow see why they
did that.  CART is not really popular in the US, well compared to any form
of Stock-car racing.

(Not aimed entirely at you Steve).  I get tired of people make judgements on
fans of other forms of racing.

I personally love motoracing.  NASCAR, Trans Am, F1, CART, Touring Cars...  I
loved CAN-AM even though they raced before my time!  Anything but the IRL and I
love racing!

I could easily argue about F1 being the most boring racing on earth.  Example..
Monaco.  8 cars finish.  0 lead changes.   30 sec interval between 1st and
2nd.    **YAWN**.

But I WONT.  I woke up early Sunday morning (the one day I usually get to sleep
in) so I could watch this race.  I love the track and I have the utmost respect
for these drivers abilities.  However,  I can say the same thing about NASCAR!
I LOVE NASCAR.  I love the fender to fender bumping and grinding racing.  A ton
of "action" compared to F1.  I grew up around NASCAR and my personal racing
experience is in the SCCA driving Sports 2000, Spec Racers, and a little GT-1.

I get tired of NASCAR fans being classified as ignorant Southern Rednecks.  I
was raised a NASCAR fan and I definitely do NOT fit that classificiation!

Im from New York,  Im educated (BBA Finance, BS Economics, MBA to be in 2001),
and just love racing.

I appreciate most forms of racing and each form of racing has its own
characteristcs and driving skill requirements.

There is no BEST form of autoracing and there is no BEST TYPE of drivers.  Its
all about perspective and respect for each form of racings challenges.

OK - Im a hypocrit because I think the IRL sucks and Tony George is an ego
maniac who destroyed one of the most historic races in all of motorsports.
<VBG>

Sorry - I just get tired of seeing people belittling individuals because they
are a fan of a certain form of racing.  Do I think everyone needs to like all
forms of racing.  Absolutely not... but it does not mean you have to be
disrespectful and criticize them for it.  (Unless its someone who likes the IRL
- then how can you not help belittling that persons ;)  <VBG>).

Sorry everybody about that last post but what i meant was
from a drivers point of view, not from a fans point of view.
You don't just drive those cars you are those cars, unlike other forms of
racing where the weekend comes and you jump in
and go racing. Very few people can master the skills that it takes
to drive one of these cars fast and still live to tell about it. Like
my email says i love Nascar from a fans point of view and Cart
but i perfer to race or watch formula one. And what Scott said
about the IRL, i couldn't agree more.
Steve!

Steve,

Thanks.. again that wasnt meant to be directed at you.  I just happened to hit
respond on yours after reading a few posts about which racing is "real racing"
vs. weak racing, etc.

Ron,

In jest is one thing....  but I had just finished reading about 4 or 5
posts that were pretty heated about one form of racing having merit and the
others not.  You cant deny history.  NASCAR WAS a Southern product.  It has
matured beyond anyones anticipation over the last 20 years.

I don't take it personally and I really don't care what others opinions of
a type of racing are... except that I think when it goes beyond a little
"ribbing" and to the point where you are insulting others for liking one
form of motorsports and judging them based on it is a little excessive <G>

Unless of course you are talking about the Ignorant Racing League (IRL).
;)

I dated a woman from down under when i was in college. (She was from
Perth)  Wild thing let me tell ya ;)  Beautiful... but man did she have a
temper!!   LOL

Hi Scott, why is it that the majority of Americans always come across
as having such a poor sense of humour. ?
Don't think i am having a go at you, i'm not...
I am Australian, and i run in a GPL on-line league based in America and
i always give the league guys a hard time about being Nascar loving
RedNecks.  :)
It doesn't mean i believe they are RedNecks, but the more they carry
on, saying, "I resent being called a RedNeck", the more fun i get out
of calling them that.
That doesn't mean i don't like Nascar racing either, but if someone
objects to me calling them a RedNeck, i will go out of my way to do
just that..  <G>
I get called all sorts of things through my choices of motorsports ,
but i laugh it off and give back as good or better than i get...  :)
There is one thing we all have in common, and that is our love of
motorsport, whether it is real motorsport or just RedNeck circle
racing..    LOL
See what i mean, chill out and have a laugh with the rest of the
world..    I am only a Outback boy from downunder, and do we make a
brew that makes your RedNeck moonshine look like water, you bet we
do...   :)))
Cheers,
Ron

ps..  i am also fully educated, i have a mechanical engineering degree
and i am also old enough to remember following Jim Clarke and Jack
Brabham in the height of their GP carreers...
Am i am RedNeck.  ???      You betcha..  :))

Hey Scott,  who's jesting ??  <G>
Once a RedNeck always a RedNeck..    LOL

I know what you mean, but i find most of the guys that can argue about
personal likes and dislikes and try to push their opinions on to other
people are not worth the worry in the first place..
Most of them wouldn't know what a good racing series entailed anyway..
(just see the IRL for an example)    <G>

Some of our little ladies down here are known for their fiery spirit,
but we have a few reasonably sedate versions as well, i married one of
the latter versions about 20 odd years ago and we are still a happy
couple, except when i spend too much time on the computer, when there
is garden work to be done..  <G>
Cheers from Downunder,
Ron
