Last  night, I was qualifying at Monza. When I was on my outlap, Brabham
was behind me. I got blue flags, but did not move aside because I did
not want a slower car in front of me on my hotlap.

When I braked for Parabolica, Brabham outbraked me, passed on the inside
and threw his car in front of mine. I had no space to go, so I spun off.

Does anyone have similar experiences with this rather bad behaviour by
AI (or AS = artificial stupidity) cars. Do they react this way because
the are mad that they are slowed down?

greetings,
HGRM

IMHO it was the human driven car that did behave bad in this case. You could
just have let him pass when you got the blue flag, and given him a few
seconds lead. Then he would not have been in you way on your hotlap.

I think some of the AI drivers are modeled to exhibit more aggressiveness
than others. Maybe this had something to do with it. I read somewhere that
they react very aggressively when passed on the inside (I think) as opposed
to outside. Maybe they modeled the behavior you described as well. Just a
theory though.

I have seen this before, not often, but certainly not rare, where an AI car
I have
perhaps come too close to in an aggresive manner (read: chopped off!) has
gone
into a sudden avoidance manuever, gathered it up, and, when finding itself
near me
again, has put the hurt to me with some kind of move that takes us both off.
Of course,
with their magical recovery act, it is no big deal for them. Stunned, and
disbelieving,
I have studied the replay hard from all angles, and it sure as h*ll looked
deliberate
to me. After some choice epithats, I concluded that it certainly added spice
to
the sim, and I can no way say that I am blameless in any of the incidents. A
humble
Lotus driver, I remain
Sincerely Yours,
Greg

This braking thing at the entrance to the Parabolica is going
to be fixed in the Patch.  Apparently they run into the back
of you on occasions as well.

I've discovered that you can get your own back on the AI by gently
nudging into the back of them as they go round the corner - that sends
them off the track and leaves you a clear line!

Be careful not to hit them too hard or you'll spin as well.

Don't think I'll be trying this online though - not a good way to make
friends!
