A couple years ago they pre-empted a NASCAR race on my local ABC affiliate
for the Children's Miracle Network Telethon. I called them up and they said
to watch it on the 'other' ABC affiliate on my cable system, of which there
was not one. They were suprised. I reminded them about the popularity of
NASCAR these days and told them there were probably more than a few unhappy
people who weren't seeing the race that day in my area and that was no way
to drum up funds for the Telethon.

I would certainly hope that you're just being sarcastic and having a
little fun here; if not, then I find your attitude pretty disgusting.
As the parent of a child who required lifesaving, emergency surgery at
the local childrens' hospital a couple of years ago, I have a first
hand appreciation for the work that is done by the Childrens' Miracle
Network and local children's hospitals throughout North America. I
love racing of all kinds, but, believe me, it takes a situation like
our family went through to make you realize just how insignificant
this sport of ours really is; I pray that you never have to find out
from firsthand experience just how insignificant, since it's not
something I would wish on anyone.
If you're NOT being sarcastic, I would suggest that YOU get YOUR
priorities straight. It's one weekend out of the entire year, for
crying out loud. One tape-delayed auto race isn't going to kill you.
They do it on Saturday-Sunday since they reach a lot more viewers than
they would on a weeknight. No matter when they do it, someone is going
to be inconvenienced. Deal with it.
