DO you have a V2 control panel w\ triple buffering option? If you do make
sure it is unchecked.

ok experts, here's the problem:

throughout the setup screens and menus, my mouse cursor flashes and
leaves ghosts all over the place.  often there are blocks of graphics
that flicker on/of as well.

during the gameplay it all seems ok, but its just a bit disconcerting
during the setup process.

It's just since a full windows reinstall that this has happened.  I've
even updated the voodoo 2 drivers.

any ideas?

 I'm not familiar w/ the V2 but I myself run a V3 and the drivers include a
control panel you can access from the display properties giving you various
options one of which is triple buffering. When enabled it does exactly as
you describe. IF THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE RUNNING A V2 PLEASE HELP OUT
MICK.

This is not going to help, but I have a Voodoo 1 (gasp shock) and have the
same problem.

The Voodoo 1's from my old PC and I now have DELL with TNT2. GPL used to
work with the TNT in glorious 1024 but now it just hangs every time I go
into a race so I resorted back to 800x600 on the Voodoo 1.

GPL hassles

This was a well known problem with V2 cards and GPL.  From a previous post:

"Thanks to other posts (and M. Carver) I think I fixed my screen lockups in GPL
with Direct X6 and Monster 3D 2.  Seems that DirectX6 (that is needed for new
games) replaces the V2 glide files with new ones that have problems with GPL.  I
just downloaded the rkv2.exe (reference V2 driver files) file from here

http://www.3dfx.com/software/RkV2.exe

unzipped it to a temp folder(dont install) and place the following files in the
main GPL directory.
    glide2x.dll
    glide3x.dll
    glide2x.ovl
Then GPL will use these files and other games will use the glide files in the
Windows directory."

I don't know if the 1.1 patch and DirectX7 have taken care of this, but I'd
suggest you get both of those as well.  Hope this helps.

thanx for that.

i'd be inclined to think that maybe directx 7 is the cul[rit - it seemed to work
allright with DX6...  it wasn't until after installing 7 that i noticed the probs.

I found my V2 settings by right mouse click on desktop/select
properties, then click on V2 tab, then click on advanced.  There should
be a box in there marked triple buffering.
