Well, I've got mine running through a Cambridge Audio amp,
Mission Monitors and a Klipsch sub, but that may be
overdoing it.  Ther neighbours certainly thing so :)
A subwoofer certainly makes the engine sound more
realistic, and I think there are some pretty cheap
computer subwoofers now from companies like Altec
Lansing.

I run my audio out from the card into a 200W stereo amplifier which is
feeding a set of LARGE speakers, each with a 15" woofer, 9" mid-range
and a 4" horn-tweeter.  The speaker units are Onkyo, the cabinets are
solidly constructed from half-inch marine plywoood, to a professional
design.

The sound is excellent for motor-racing sims.

Just make sure that if the speakers are to be placed anywhere near
your monitor that they're properly shielded - nothing worse than
watching a $300+ monitor turn from full color to full green.  =P

Cheers!

As far as Bang for your buck, the ACS 45's kick ass, I have a pair, they go well
with moniter speakers or on their own..if on a budget, a great set of speakers..

hope this helps

I don't have Nascar 2 at the moment, but I have the GPL demo which has
Nascar 2 sounds I believe.
Sounds nice through my Cambridge Soundworks PCWorks speaker set
(satellites with sub)

How much money do you wanna spend though? :-)

Well, with DELL pc you get some Altec Lansing speakers... they are really
great (I being somehow an audiophile).   The names are different from OEM
and buying individually...

I have some Altec Lansing ACS495 USB Dolby Surround speakers.  2pair+SubW.

They cost around 300$, but the sound is almost as good as a pair of real
home 1000$ Sound system.  And with the USB it's pretty amazing how easy it
is to switch from Dolby to ProLogic to Stereo.
