more respectable AthlonXP 2500+ unit. To put this new machine to the
test, I decided to finally fire up the copy of GTR2002 (installed over
F12002 Demo) that had never been run - As I didn't think the old
450mhz could run it in any reasonable manner. All I can say is,
"WOW"! What an incredible product!! I would be raving about GTR2002
even if I had just payed $49.95 for it, as it is the best
racing/driving sim I have played. The fact that it is completely free
(runs just fine over the demo version of F12002) is just an added
bonus. I know this is all old news to you guys, but I just had to
share my enthusiasm for this fine product. I bought MS Flight Sim
2004 last week($54.99), but I haven't even had a chance to install it,
as I've been too busy racing GTR2002.
One question: I'm sure I could pick up a retail copy of F12002 pretty
cheap now, maybe around $10. Would I be gaining anything other than
more tracks by doing this? I have no desire to play F12002, so having
the full version of it is not really valuable to me. I don't really
need the additional tracks at this point, as I'm having trouble enough
"mastering" (I use that term very loosely!) the GTR2002 included
tracks.
ok... one more question: My finances didn't allow me to upgrade my
video card with the rest of the pc, so I'm still running a GeForce 256
DDR (yes, what we now refer to as a "GeForce 1"). What would give me
the most bang-for-the-buck when upgrading the video card. My budget
is probably no more than $150 for this. I'm thinking a GeForce 4 Ti
4200 might be a good compromise between performance and value. Any
thoughts? I'm not a hard-core gamer, but do enjoy sims the most, so
performance is reasonable important.
Thanks,
Pat
