How can I make TOCA harder?

After using so much concentration playing GPL and GP2, TOCA is great for
a bit of reckless driving, but it could be so much more fun if it was
harder! When I'm last on the grid I can usually get up to first place by
lap 3, and thats not good, not good at all.  Why did Codemasters make
the AI cars so goddamn SLOW? Did they do it for the console owners? This
could so much more...
I'd appreciate any tips to make it harder, even ways to handicap
myself. Any ideas please?

Wait until TOCA 2 hits the stores. They say it'll be quite a challenge as
they added a whole lot to the physics model.

Hmm.. I found that, while this is the case for the first two or three
races of the season, by the season close it's ***y difficult to battle
through the pack.  What happens when you've finished a season of TOCA?
