T2

From my experiences with a T2, it didn't work very well with
the joystick port on the soundcard, so I purchased the ACM
game card, and now all is well. The important thing to
remember is that by default the T2 behaves as TWO joysticks.
With the pedals, being on the 1 axis of joystick2, and the
steering being on the same axis, but on joystick1. This means
that your joystick port must be capable of supporting 2
joysticks, ie a dual port, even though you only have 1 plug.

If you use the converter plug that comes with the T2, this
will force the steering, and the pedals to behave as 1
joystick, with the steering on 1 axis, and the pedals on the other.

If you buy a game card, remember that they usually have 2
ports, each of which is a dual port and can support 2
joysticks, So you still plug both the pedals, and the steering
into the same port.

With regards to whether to buy a dedicated game card or not,
Thrustmaster recommends that you do, so if you have any
problems don't blame them!

I hope that sorts out any problems, and is reasonably clear.

Is there any particular reason not to use the adapter? I am trying to
get my T2 to work with the ancient game Indy500, and I think one of
the reasons it won't see it is because T2 uses only one axis on joy1.
But I don't want to ruin my performance for ICR2
