Does the lack of Need for Speed 3 posts mean that no one plays this
game, or does it mean that the people who are playing NFS3 doesn't have any
problems to post.

All I hear about is GPL and Nascar 99.  Tell me something I don't know.

GPL is about 60% [Seems to be more headaches than it is worth to play]
3DFx and overclocking posts are 25%
NR1999/N2 are about 5%
And the rest are other sims.

Hi,
because there is a NFS3 newsgroup:

and there are posts everyday.

BTW: I enjoy this game a lot with my Logitech
FF wheel.

Cheers,Fred.

It means that NFS3 is not a simulator, it's an arcade game and arguably
doesn't belong in here.  Powerslide doesn't really belong in here, either,
but it's position as possibly the most graphically smooth and pretty game
available at the moment makes it of some interest.  NFS3 is generally
regarded by the denizens of this group as a kid's game, not really worthy of
discussion in a serious way.  You can probably get some great help here if
you have a hardware-related problem with it, as long as you can endure the
various and sundry insults from the 'serious' SIMmers, but I wouldn't expect
there to be much discussion of it as a game.

Well, it's easier to discuss about *real* simulations than about pure
arcade racers...

I'm in to MGPRS2 at the moment and due to the higher than thou attitude here
I never even looked at NFS3. Then it turned up on Christmas day and I
thought great, that's a return. Having pIayed it a bit I must say it's great
fun if you give it more than 10 mins. Loads of cars on the web (D2 privat
Merc is cool) and a complete change from suspension settings and bump stops
to gain 0.1 sec per lap.

On top of that I'm not sure it's that arcade. The courses are pretty
realistic and the cars do handle fairly well with my wheel. It won't replace
MGPRS2 by any stretch of the imagination but it makes a change.

How about some urls to some of these extra cars. I've found EA's (of course) and
sim-racing's , any others?

Wow thanks alot!! Excellent cars , great site. I didn't realize people made
their own cars like N2 and N99. Thanks again!

???

I NEVER read a post from someone saying that the cars do handle fairly
in ANY WAY ?!?! IMHO the it's like driving a boat, but NOT like
driving expensive sports cars.

Don't get me wrong: I've got NFS III on my own, but just to the fact that

a) I own every part of the NFS-series (NFS I rules all the way !!!)
b) the grafics and the main idea of the game are/is great.

Just a pity that there's not a sim to combine to grafics and the atmos-
phere of NFS III with the physics of GPL.

Also, man mailt sich...

Thank you. I enjoy nfs3. My ISP provides 30,000 news groups and as of today
there is no group for nfs1/nfs2/nfs3. Unless it is on DejaNews I think it's
bogus.

I found GPL (Demo) unplayable. I think it's because the cars designed in
those
day's had mucho horsepower but skinny tires and no aerodynamics. Anyway
I did tryit and found it impossible (for me) to get into.

Well, that's OK. I think almost noone could handle those GPL-cars at
first - but if you practise, you'll get into it...and when you are, GPL
is VERY satisfying (in contrast to NFS II or III).

You know..when the cars were around in 1967, almost no-one could drive them
then, either, so I guess that makes it a good SIM, eh?

Speaking as someone who probably enjoyed easier sims/games more than
difficult ones,  I can say that GPL is worth the effort because of its
extreme quality.  ICR2 was just a PITA because it was really hard to drive
and didn't offer enough simulated feedback to make me feel like the control
was up to the challenge.  Getting goog in the game was more a matter of
learning to control the software than learning to control the cars.  In GPL,
the simulation is so good that the game/sim is almost transparent.  You
really feel like you have excellent, fine control of the cars, so praticing
is rewarding rather than blindly frustrating.

I enjoy games like NFSIII.  I must say I enjoy them LESS now that I have
done GPL for a while.  NFSIII is a lark.  Driving it is learning to control
the software to its best effect, not driving the cars, because the driving
has little to do with the physics of real cars.  I think until GPL,
attempted physical simulations of real-world cars were just not good enough
to rise above battles with the software.  The reason to really like a SIM
was that you liked the trappings of that particular class of racing, in my
case, the favorite was NASCAR2 because I like NASCAR.

ehh..whatever...
