The "Qualitymeters" in GPL Stole my framerate

I'm mainly joining online GPL races via IP thru GPL->Multiplayer.
Wanted to try out 2xFSAA on mye Geforce 2 GTS.
Offline I had 36fps in 1280x1024 2xFSAA. But online the framerate dropped to
25fps...
The hunt for more fps went on....Tried all sorts of stuff, with no luck.

Then I remembered Jens Kruuses Kyro II review, where he fixed the Kyro II
online GPL problem, by turning the "Quality meters" off in the core.ini
(show_meters = 0). Tried the same thing, and the d... thing worked ;D

I have never noticed that the "quality meters" stole performance, cause my
system always had enough power to run GPL smoothly without FSAA enabled. But
it obviously does ?

But when hosting a server, I dont get the fps drop with the "quality meters"
enabled. Wierd ;)
