Unless I'm missing something, why would it need to? N3, and N4 have
excellent multiplayer support built-in, with chat area and race server
listings.

yeah, excellent sierra-gestapo controlled servers....

Do you think that without OUTSIDE development GPL would be anywhere near it
is now ?

Avoid the sierra stuff ang race online on www.onlineracing.com no need to
register with a sireaa generated serial....
