GPL how do i see speed while racing?

Hi

Is there a way to check speed while racing? I only see the speed when
pressing F10, I want to learn which speed to use in corners, but then
I need to be able to check them!?

Nope.. they didn't have a speedmeter in real life, so you also don't
have it in GPL. But anyway, in the corners you should focus on the
track instead of looking at a speedmeter to see how fast you are going
:)
The revsmeter (probably not the correct word but you know what I mean)
can be of help though seeying how fast you are going.

Anyway, there is no such thing as learning at which speed you should
take a corner.. just take the corner as fast as you can, while
focussing on the fastest possible exit speed. It's better to take a
corner a bit slower if that will gain you a faster exit speed.

To compare the speed from your laps vs laps from other people, you can
use GPL Replay Analyzer for this.

You simply don't need to know that. The sound of your engine and the feeling
of your car are enough to tell you if you can too fast or too slow.
Real life driver didn't have the information either.

Aw c'mon Andre, after 3 years you know exactly at what speeds you can
take each and every corner on every track in GPL, even the
Nordschleife......just ask DGF, so the least you could do is let the guy
know........:-)

Shit, you're on to me..
Ok, I'll write a list with the speed for each corner of all 130+
available tracks, for all 7 chassis.. gimme a couple of days.

Dangit Andre, how are we gonna be able to help people if we can't use
proper technical terms for devices.  You should have said:
"The doohickey with a needle that bounces up and down just before I become
fixated on it and crash off into the weeds of Germany."
See precise words provide precise learning.

You don't need to know what speed you're doing.
Racing cars hardly ever have speedos in them. It's all to do with revs
and gears. You don't have time to look at the speed while you're going
sideways :)

Oh, and no you can't see your speed in the***pit view.

Get replay analyser which shows numerous values for your car during a lap.

That would be the tachy-meter, wouldn't it? Or is that for measuring
tachyons? Or for showing how much it would repulse a Valley-girl?

For years, I've memorised corners in racing sims as
"high third"; "medium fifth"; "slow second" or whatever.

For a few specific corners in F1GP I'd actually look at
the rev counter, and use "11200 in fifth" for example.

Just like if you take your motorbike to a track day, they tape over the
speedo because you don't want to be distracted by looking at the speedo. The
booming noise from your Termignonis is all the reference you need.

They tape over the lights too, but that's so you don't leave invisible ***
on the track when you crash. :-)

NB: When, not if.  Also note then when you crash, they pick you up
with a mop and bucket.
