Just picked up Indycar 1 at the bargain bin at Wal-Mart, using it to
decide if I want to mess with 2.  Is there an Indianapolis that can be
put into Indy 1?  Or some extra carsets other than what was at the
pits (which are great, btw).  Can anybody point me in the right
dircection?  Thanks!

The Indianapolis expansion pack is no longer available...However, you
may be able to obtain a copy at the Indy-Track Gift Shop (sorry, I don't
have the number).

There's also a utility that allows you to convert the track for use in
ICR2,
and if you get a Rendition 3D card, you can have an optimized version of
Indy (clouds and all).  This would be a matter of switching a few files
from
one of the 3D tracks (comes with Rendition card - except the 3D-Blaster).

If you wanted, you could even convert the tracks from NASCAR(1), and
really have a grand time!!...These tracks can be optimized as well.

For info on the converters, they're available at The Pits, and for info on
how to enhance the non-optimized tracks for Rendition, check out the
following site:

whoa!!!! there is a way to put the sky or some of the 16 bit textures in
the non-rendition tracks?  Please explain how to do this.  I'd really
like the sky and new asphalut in all the tracks.  Thanx.

I do have the rendition version.  How can I change things so the sky and
all other new textures are in all the tracks like th first guy said?

No, the software rasterizer (which is what you are running unless you
have the Rendition card and the Rendition version of ICR2) only has
256 colors (8-bit) in its pallette. The higher bit depth artwork is
only compatible with the Rendition version.

My 100% honest to goodness answer is "I don't know"
My guess is that it's not easily accomplished by simply copying a few
files around (that guess is solely predicated on the amount of time
our art department spent on the 5 tracks that are enhanced...)
