Clutch pedal in GP2?

So, GP2 seems to support analag clutch device...

Has anybody tried this? Does it really help in race starts, I guess there is
no other use for it. Is there any pedal-sets with 3 pedals? I've been thinking
of building my own wheel&pedals and now I have to consider having 3 pedals...

BTW... Which commercial pedals systems have gas and brake on different joystick
axis?

Actually it does help on starts. It's a bit of a missed opportunity
since it is only modelled on the grid, and you can't actually stall or
anything, but it helps on the starts (if you can co-ordinate everything!
It seems so easy in a road car!).

The GP500 offers the clutch system (and about every other option known
to man). That was the system we were using for the test, and the full
results will be in Sim Racing News next month.

Cheers!
John

I use a Gravis Firebird stick with throttle on 2nd Y-axis,  steering
on 1st X-axis, brake and gear up/down are on buttons, and clutch on
the lower half of 1st Y axis. The clutch is just the old 'hold car on
gear' gone analog, ie. when I used to start the race keeping gas full,
and gear button down, now I keep gas full and stick back. It seems to
give better traction control at the start, but I'm not sure if there
is much difference to just releasing throttle slowly.

In fact I've just figured how ingenious the old F1GP keyboard gear
shift configuration was: the space bar was tripling as gear up, gear
down and on/off clutch.

Me too, but I have a rather different setup. I have steering on the X
axis (duh!), the trigger and small top button for gear shifting, and
two buttons on the base for gas and brake. Because I'm using switched
gas, starts tend to throw up a lot of smoke and massive wheelspin and
I lose perhaps 3-4 places, so now I'm using Y-axis 2 (the throttle) as
a clutch and lose only about 1 place. :-)
