Just a small message, because I know that most on RAS care more than
people in general life. While I feel for the victims and my thoughts and
prayers go to their family, do their deaths really need to be shown so
publicly? I saw the front covers of many papers these past few days and
it's really tragic; they care not for the people, only for the money
that is spent on the paper, IMO.

I quite agree Rob. Grief and bereavement should be respected and the
families should be given more respect. The media even made a circus of the
family trip to the scene of the accident and I cannot begin to comprehend
the trauma these people go through when the fateful moment is relived 3
times a day on tv. Unfortunately, people vote with their feet when they go
to the newsagents in the morning. Whilst there is a ghouls market to be
served, the papers will sell this stuff. Remember the Coulthard accident?
The photos and film footage will be an invaluable aid to the investigation
team but it's hardly appropriate as media fodder when considering the number
of people who will be affected. I speak from experience. Many years ago, I
lost a member of my family to the troubles in Northern Ireland. The local
papers made a big meal over it and it was harrowing beyond any reasonable
level of tolerance.

This accident hit me particularly hard. I used to work for Bae as an
airframe technician and although I was not directly involved in the Concorde
project (I worked on Tornadoes, Harriers and the Bae 146), it was still our
"baby". I was at Farnborough attending the airshow when the news filtered
through and the atmosphere was subdued to say the least. We guys felt the
loss of a machine. For those who lost loved ones, the magnitude of grief
would not even begin to be measured. My thoughts are with the families.

Unfortunately Rob, that's the society we live in, most people will buy the
papers because of the images. A truly sad state of affairs :(
