You're welcome to try and assemble something yourself, but I bought the
plans and was glad I did. You see, my time is worth more than $45, which is
about what the plans cost.
I have been very pleased with the end result, and informed the RaceBase
folks of this fact, and they have posted pictures of my sim on their site. I
can assure you, however, I received NOTHING for this.

I would recommend the RaceBase product to anybody looking for a fold-able
yet sturdy race seat. I use it with both my PS2 and PC.
