Thank you guy!  I read your post, mentioned it to my wife, so she drove
50 miles down there, stood in line for hours on Christmas Eve and got it
for me FOR 5 BUCKS!  I never got around to buying it before and missed
the Cheerios deal.  The only bad thing is it won't recognize my split
axis wheel/pedals.  Is there a patch for this?

There is ONE official patch but this was not an issue.  Make sure you are
using the directx joystick option not the papyrus optimized version.  There
should be a choice on the controllers option screen.

Is Nascar Legends a pretty decent game?

Never had a chance to read or hear about it.

I know that I quit watching NASCAR when all the cars started to look
absolutely identical in styling and I couldn't tell a Pontiac from a Ford.
As a kid I watched Buddy Baker (my favorite) and Richard (he won every
goddam race) and so many others that slip my mind. (that happens a lot
lately :)

But when all the cars started to look alike, I lost interest.

It wasn't a STOCK car race anymore. It was like a slightly modified IROC
race.

Then, you have the restrictor plates and I started wondering "Well, hell,
why don't they just remove the crew chief and bring in a bunch of computer
nerds and program the damn thing to run perfectly?".

I'm a golf magazine editor so .... my opinion means about diddly.

But ...just my take from the outside lookin' in.

It's decent enough if you're not expecting GPL/F12001/etc physics, much
more enjoyable than N3 for me even though they used the same game
engine, but with the lesser grip of those old cars it was more of a
challenge to drive than N3 was, even had a few good online races with it

<shameless plug>
And then of course there's the 70's Trans-Am patch from "The Pits" which
adds even more, so yes, at that price it's def worth a look

Beers and cheers

Anyone know where I can fiind a cheap copy of NL in Manitoba? Or maybe
northern Minnesota if I have to?

If you're just wondering whether it's worth the trip to the store or
the disk space (clearly it should not be a question of whether it is
worth the money) download the demo from papy.com.  In my case I
decided that it was an interesting curiosity but not worth the time or
the disk space unless I was really bored.  JMO
