Hey, I happen to think that the SODA demo is utterly fantastic (I
haven't found the full game over here yet - but I'll be buying it the
second I do).
It's a breath of fresh air amongst all of these road racing arcade games
and it's nice to see that there's still some people producing true
driving sims.
The physics in SODA just made me wet my pants when I first drove it (I
use a T2).
We've got no end of realistic flight sims from various companies, but as
far as good race _sims_ go... well I can only think of Microprose (and I
never really _enjoyed_ their F1 stuff) and Papyrus. The first PC game I
bought was ICR for my DX2 so I guess from the outset my benchmark for
race sims/games was high. Microsoft CARTPR? Don't make me laugh.
Getting back to TOCA, how can a game look so bad _and_ use the 3Dfx?
That's got to be some special kind of lazyness. It looks a lot better
on the PSX (because it runs so much smoother), and that's embarrasing.
SODA is fine with hardware accelleration, and has graphics customisable
enough to make it run well on a non-Rendition machine. Then there's the
possible 3Dfx patch...
Guess you can't please all the people all the time. I'm just happy
Papyrus are sticking with the sim freaks out there. I'll stand by my
statement, thanks.
Second thoughts, I'll make an amendment:
KNOWING Papy are the only decent true sim producers left,
