GP2 & CLUTCH READ THIS!

Hello All GP2 Fan,i've managed to install a clutch that works fine with a
FORMULA T1/T2
 (FOR PEDAL CLUTCH READ FURTHER)

1- You can install a HAND CLUTCH by using a UNUSED JOYSTICK.
-Locate within your joystick which wires (2)  is used for the vertical
AXIS.
If you have a OHMMETER, just plug your probe to the wires until you
find which
color is for vertical axis. (The trick is when you move your joystick
up/down,
the OHM meter will see a fluctuation in reading.

-The other way is open your joystick carefully, and try to view which
wire
color is hooked to the POTENTIOMETER for VERTICAL AXIS, in some case
you'll have one wire connected that goes directly to the cable.
The other wire might go to a secondary potentiometer (used to
calibrate your
joystick),the other terminal from that potentiometer should go to the
main cable.
VOILA, you found which wire is working for VERTICAL AXIS.

-Then open the FORMULA T1/T2 covers that hold the steering remove all
     6 screws underneath.
-Then carefully locate the 3 wires that are just taped together, but are
not                connected anywhere (in my case it's the
BLACK/ORANGE/GREY wire)
    - just remove the tape, and locate the BLACK wire, which is used for
      Y1 axis (in GP2 it's called JOYSTICK A VERTICAL).

PS:IF you have the THRUSMASTER ACM GAME CARD,go at THRUSTMASTER SITE on the
WEB ,and download a small utility called TMS.EXE. This is a small
program which can help you identify any AXIS, ie: can help you determine if
the BLACK wire, connected directly to the PINK wire (going at the red PUSH
BUTTON 1) will actually "trigger" the Y1 VERTICAL axis. If it works GREAT!.

-Like  i explained above to check if the BLACK wire is really the one for
JOYSTICK
A VERTICAL, just connect it (temporarely) to the PINK wire that is
connected
to the first red push button (TOP) on your T1/T2. While touching the two
wire
together,in GP2 in CONTROL MENU (calibration) you'll see a small
fluctuation
in the VERTICAL AXIS FOR Y1 (same page as steering calibration X1)
I FORGOT TO TELL that you have to change in the CONTROL menu CLUTCH
   DEVICE = JOYSTICK A VERTICAL.

  - IF it works, GREAT! at this point DON"T SAVE THE CALIBRATION! not yet!

-OK, now the simple part, connect 1 WIRE (any one of the two  that you
have                identified) FROM YOUR UNUSED JOYSTICK to the BLACK wire
inside the
T1/T2 box. CONNECT the other wire from the JOYSTICK to the PINK wire
inside
the T1/T2  ( which is directly soldered to the TOP RED PUSH BUTTON) -->
locate the top terminal from that push button it should be connected to
only
one wire (in my case it's PINK), the other terminal is the the GROUND
(forget it).

-Voila , you have a HAND MANUAL CLUTCH,don't forget to calibrate your
new
"fully equiped steering/pedal/clutch" and again configure before in the
CONTROL
MENU ==> CLUTCH DEVICE JOYSTICK A VERTICAL.

NOW the fun part, the way it works is when you FULLY EXTEND the
joystick
FORWARD, the clutch is engaged, REV UP TO RED LINE AND  CAREFULLY
release the clutch within tire still grip enough, and you'll fly by
anyone WOW!
" I've manage to start from 6 places and FLY by anybody before the 1st
corner
      A LA ALESI"  HA HA!

NOW for the serious RACER, You can actually buy from Thrustmaster a set of
pedal (bracket, potentiometer, pedal, screws)  and install it to UNUSED
OPENING at your PEDAL HOUSING (the holes for screws are already
perforated).

- REVIEW (ABOVE) WHICH WIRE is actually the JOYSTICK A VERTICAL in the
steering housing (BLACK & PINK ). The BAD NEWS is there's no
suplement wire
inside the cable going to the pedal housing (maybe the latest T2 has it?)
IF like
me you'll have to route a new cable from the pedal to the steering
containing two
wires (don't use telephone cable --> too easy to break). Instead get a
good quality
cable. Now just solder the 2 wires to the potentiometer (make sure the
potentiometer is positioned at the start of extension) and then
connect 1 wire
to (unused BLACK wire at the steering housing) and the other to the PINK
wire
(which again is soldered to TOP RED PUSH BUTTON).

Then do your CONTROL setup and CALIBRATION.

Hope it will be of help to serious RACE fan like me,HAVE FUN!
