GTRAS / GTRASCAR

Hi all,

Somebody suggested recently that there should be a GTR version of
RASCAR, a GTRAS or whatever, because apparently RASCAR isn't as popular
as it used to be.  I don't know that for a fact because I didn't buy a
copy of NR2003 when it came out because I live in the UK, so I have
absolutely no interest in NASCAR and 30 is a lot of money to just
turn left.  Now I can't find it for sale anywhere over here and I'd
only buy it for RASCAR anyway.

Back to the topic... I'd be really interested in helping to set up
GTRAS if there was enough interest.  I don't know what GTR multiplayer
is like, it's descended from EA's F1 sims so I bet it's not that great,
but if anybody knows more, I'd like to hear it.  Would there be enough
interest here for something like this?

I'd probably join in. I'm in another GTR league and we've been able to get
up to about 17 or 18 racers, but the server has a big pipe and everyone
needs to have a rock solid broadband connection and good fps.

Steve.

The single biggest problem is that RASCAR was so diverse geographically.
Guys from US, Europe, Austrailia.  The Papy netcode could barely handle this
diversity and GTR while OK for close distance broadband races degrades badly
over the geographic distances RASCAR needs.  Could work though.it would be
difficult.

Count me in.

I'd like to give it a try, too. I can provide webspace & stuff (same
server as the current website at http://www.rascar.org/)

cheers, uwe
