Official formula 1 racing from Eidos is a great game.

I don't understand why the general opinion here is that it sucks,
could it be the concurence that spray the propaganda in the newsgroups ???

I have played many driving games, and this one is the best i ever
tried...graphics are perfect, sound is amazing, driving feels real for once,
and it's an incridible pleasure to race over internet with 8 pilots.

Maybe some people (like me) tried the demo and thought
it sucked. The worse part for me was how turns are modeled
in the demo. You turn about the center of the vehicle instead
of by the front tires. No way am I going to put up with that.

This is so bad, I just bought it and I know for sure I'll never touch it
again. I hated the demo, it was only because of comments of guys like you
that I decided to still buy it. Do you call this realistic? No way. Do you
call this fun? No way. Ever tried using a curb, there's no response but some
stupid movement. This game is so bad, it's just unbelievable. MGPRS2 has
major weaknesses but compared to this it's the GP2 of '99.
Please stop denying this fact, because people are buying this game. And
unlike in the states in Holland it's not possible to bring it back. So I've
just thrown away $45.

Harold, where do you buy your games? I'm from Holland too (hallo!) and
allmost all stores where I buy my games have a return policy.
Dynabyte, V&D, Dixons, Intertoys, Bart Smit....
I returned F1GP the same day I bought it. Unbelievable how this game
sucks. I can't imagine that the poster of the original message was
serious, he must either have been sarcastic or really drunk....

STOP DRINKING SO MUCH WINE!!!!
Come on ,a game where you can do the parabolic at monza without lifting the
throttle, cannot be considered as a serious one ,even for an arcade racer.
Try Gpl at spyboy on a good cable host and probably you will be able to race
another 15 drivers or so ,and have at least double the pleasure you have playing
OF1 ,urggghh

Good?\Bad? I dont Know. all i know is that it is a fun game,not the best f1
sim. but fun none the less. i have every f1 sim made to date and most of
them have been real dogs, lets face it, good sim physics are hard to come
by.
getting into a discussion of where the physics model is steering the car
from is totally fruitless, since to date there is no simulator that is
even close to the real physics of an f1 car.
some days i just get up and want to run a race like i just watched on tv
crashing over the curbs and everything. some sims are easier to just go and
jump in, other times i really want to test my patience and go for the "Real
sim"
Also dont forget we all have buddies/kids that we like to sim with that
just cannot hack the subleties of our modern f1 simulator
but we still want to race with them and at least have some competative fun.
it is a rare simulator that can satisfy all sides of the sim market.
one thing is for sure having fun and getting the most realistic experience
your senses can handle whether you are Schumacher
or Schmoemacher is the most important thing
BTW i got mine for $29.99 at EB

Is this newsgroup rec.autos.arcade.racers? -No.

I reviewed this game for a local site and was largely unimpressed with it.
Any game where I can run a 1m28s lap at Melbourne ("simulation" mode / all
helps off / using standard setup) on my 2nd flying lap in the game ever,
isn't going to offer a lasting challenge. When viewed as an arcade/halfway
game TOCA2 beats it hands down.

I thought the multiple dynamic***pit views were well done though. Shame
about the game they're in.

He must have made a mistake here...... "F1GP" is better known as the
predecessor of GP2 and was an incredible game at the time (anno
1991!).

Says who? I found the demo distasteful. And it seems the prevailing
opinion on the newsgroup is the game is a joke....so how can it satisfy all
sides of the sim market when it apparently can't satisfy even the arcade
side?

Try GPL then....you'll be in for a rude awakening I do believe.

No kidding GPLis great!!,and i might add rare.10 really breakthrough sims
exist out of maybe hundreds(unfortunatly porting from a console platform is
the word of the day at the software companies.
yes i agree the opinion of the newsgroup is that it is a joke,
it is... to put it kindly, a really weak attempt at a simulator,
but there is a very small segment of racers out there who
appreciate the eye candy aspect of the game and therefore
are willing to play the game as bad as it may seem to others.

Please this isnt a pissing match between GP Drivers, it is a real discussion
of the good and bad points of a Game, nothing More. Your opinion is as
valuble as anyone elses. if it sucks, it sucks.
Dont assume that because someone will play a particular game that they could
not possibly handle playing any REAL SIM.
Thats BS, we have all got closets full of shit we bought that really sucked

When I first got the game, I hated it and it made my ***itch something
furious. I immediately turned it up to it's most "realistic" physics settings
and whatnot, and could not believe what I was driving - it was horrible. I went
back to it a few days later, and tried it in arcade mode, and it wasn't so bad.
I don't really enjoy arcade racers, especially ones posing as sims, so I'll
probably still take this one back, but I can see how the average person could
find it's arcade model both driveable and enjoyable. As for the graphics, being
able to see huge portions of the track and all 22 cars with no slowdown is very
nice, but other than that I find the colors to be obnoxious, and the graphics
in general to be very blocky. I'm no fan of MGPRS2's graphics, either, though -
why can't more F1 games look like GPL?

I know what you mean, but MGPRS2 graphics are very good at high resolutions
(1024+).
