Kill files.

I never thought I needed them.  John Dougherty just proved me wrong: 98
posts in one day.  Four said the exact same thing.  The other 92 were just
the letter "a"!  Can someone please tell me how to set up a kill file on MS
Internet Mail?

        Please,

I assume you meant MS Internet News, but the answer is you can't.  The
next revision (probably due out with IExplorer 4.0) should add
killfiles as well as many other requested features.

Netscape 3.01's News Reader doesn't support kill files either, but I
haven't checked out Communicator yet (I doubt it does though).  If you
really want to use this feature try NewsXpress.  It's free, and works
nicely.

Agent (the registered version) definitely does. The original v1.0 of
FreeAgent (the free version) did not. The newer v1.1 (I think) quite
possibly does, but since I use Agent, I don't know for sure.

http://www.forteinc.com (from the top of my head). Highly recommended.

drop in your kill file.

Uhhh, I hope this is some kind of a joke.

If not, try "man rn".  Or nn.  Or xrn, if you require an X interface.
Or "man -k news | more" and see what shows up.

'trn' supports killfiles and much more. Do a CTRL-K while in a group
to edit the kill file for that group with your default editor,
'man trn' for more info.

Not sure about X based readers, but I know there is a Xtrn and Knews.

I have been using UNIX trn with kill files a long time before Windoze
newsreaders started coming out missing this essential feature, one
of the reasons I never did give up my familiar old trn newsreader.

Some other non-X UNIX newsreaders are rn, nn, tin, slrn just take a look
around I'm sure one of them will fit your needs.

Cheers.

Oh God, Sorry! I forgot my place and just assumed everybody uses PC's
around here, which isn't a fair assumption. Oops...
