Elkhart every year so this isn't our first race, but it is our first Sebring.
Would appreciate any advice...?

Head over to www.SebringFans.com and ask away!
Sebring is an unbelievable experience, you will love it!
I haven't been to Sebring since I was a senior in high school, way back in
1968, but it was an experience that I hope I never forget! I'm a bit
jealous of you, and all the rest who will be there this year.
The one piece of advice that I can give you is to leave yourself plenty of
time to get into and out of the race site. I'm pretty sure that the road
leading to the track is still a two-lane highway, and to make it worse,
there is a pretty big bottleneck at the entrance/exit.
What else? Take plenty of sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat, a cool long
sleeved shirt, and warm clothes for the mornings and evenings...
Oh, yeah, take lots of pictures! If you're shooting digital, take lots of
memory, or a laptop to dump the camera to from time to time. If you're
shooting film, take about four times as many shots as you would normally.
You won't get to make any "do overs" when you're back home a week later.
Ok, now for my "glory story". Back in '68, spectators were allowed in the
pits, RIGHT UP TO THE START OF THE RACE! So there I was, milling around
with the masses as the teams ran their last minute preparations, the
drivers chatting with whoever was around. I've got a shot of Jacky Ickx
standing in the open doorway of his Gulf-Wyer GT-40, that I shot, from an
arm's length away! Then, not too long after, I took shots of the drivers
sprinting across the road for the Le Mans style start, and then of the
chaos as all the cars went tearing off down the start-finish straight. What
a day! My =only= regret was and is that the GT-40s fell out with mechanical
problems, and a Porsche prototype won the race.

Reminds me of a very old joke:
If you took all the cars in the world and lined them up end to
end....
Some jerk at the back would pull out and try to pass.
(No offence to your driver friend. <grin>)
