Woohoo! Short tracks... I hope it doesn't turn out to be an arcade
disaster... Infogrammes is the publisher but I never heard of Hoplite
(sounds like a wargame designer).

Finally a game that includes the financial aspects (the "high scores" of
racing sims?).

  Looks interesting.........but the
standard-which-means-it-isn't-worth-a-damn line of "multiplayer includes
support for up to 16 players" doesn't sound good.........hopefully in for a
surprise.

Well that's twice as many as most new titles use.  However I notice
they don't say if that's LAN or internet.  I am 'cautiously' optimistic.

Man I hope they do this well because this is what I have been after for
years. The only thing "off" from my dream sim is that I was hoping for ASA,
but this will work just fine. Man I'm so ready for this. As far as the 16
player limit goes I don't see that beeing a real problem. I have cable
internet and my max number of clients based on required bandwidth per client
is only 8 players.

That's my point though; most of the time when it says "support for X
players"; usually ends up being 2-3 in reality.
Two recent examples are Heat and F1 2001.  But I'm hoping it's different
this time too.

I don't see a problem with knowing your limits so to speak. NASCAR 4 will
handle way more than 16 only if you have the bandwidth to support it, which
most people do not. I belive its 20,400 bps. so to host 16 car field you
need at least 326k upload speed. most cable and dsl is capped at 128k or
256k so 16 cars is even more than they can support.  IMO Heat does just fine
online as far as connections go, the lack of yellows still sucks though. At
least Heat dosen't have the Papy shake.

Hmmm... saw it advertised at EB World and Amazon.com... it's 19.99$ I
hope it doesn't turn out to be another Dirt Trash Racing (can you tell I
wasn't impressed that much?).

But, many of us have computers on high-speed connections that we're willing to
let the 'community' use.  Look at VROC.  I have 3 servers that I run, Peter
Burke has 4-5, etc.  I don't see the bandwith being THAT much of an issue.  I'd
divert one for Nascar 4 if I didn't have to load another program to do it.  I'm
sure the program(DeMONS) works FINE, but I just haven't taken the time to do it
yet.

Well, fwiw, I guess I didn't make myself clear; what I was referring to
was the all to common "supports 16 players"  blah, blah, blah...........when
in reality, once the game ships, it's more like 2-3......MAX, no matter what
kind of bandwidth, etc. you have.......

  Anyway, here's hoping.
