N4 Fast setups not cutting it...

Am I the only one melting the wheels off the car with these "fast"
setups? I'm not complaining about the physics model...I love it and
it's challenging. I've been racing at Martinsville and Daytona for the
last couple of weeks. At Daytona I'm fast enough but I'm all over the
place. I bottom out, the car wants to turn in too much or I get a real
bad push after about 15 laps. I've messed with the caster and rebound
there but it's still not right. At Martinsville, I can't seem to break
the 90 MPH lap. The rest of the field is around 92 - 94. No matter how
much I try....braking early, braking late, careful throttle
application, I am the only car burning the right front wheel off the
car. I've watched the in car cameras in the AI cars and I can't
possibly maintain the speeds that they are holding in the corners.
I've dabbled with the setup to no avail. Bottom line is: if I was
smart enough to setup a car then I would be doing the real thing. I am
wondering if the ai grip and/or track grip is not realistic and needs
to be adjusted. But before I try that....does anyone have a good setup
I can try???

I've had better luck starting with the intermediate setups & tweaking
from there.

I find that even the fast setup is too tight. That means you'll have to
work on them a bit... soften the RF spring, add some track bar/sway bar,
tweak the 4th gear...

N4 Fast setups not cutting it...

I posted a short while back about the same thing re: Michigan in particular.
Apparently we are too busy debating NASCAR safety standards, or lack
thereof, and arguing over which sim is better to actually get into the
details and grunt work of making the sims we have enjoyable.

There were lots of issues with the N3 AI (like the fact that at 100% some
tracks had AI that were too fast and some were too slow).  I am wondering
whether N4 is the same.  It may have this problem in addition to the glaring
AI problems we have all been experiencing.  I have experienced a few "odd"
laps that are faster by way too big a margin than my normal laps as
well...which reminds me of the timing bug in GPL (pre 1.2).  I wish we could
get some others to confirm or deny these problems so that, if necessary, we
can start pestering Papy to fix them in the upcoming patch (which,
interestingly, hasn't been confirmed or discussed by Papy yet AFAIK).

Some basic testing will show you that the qual setups (with the race
engines) are usually the fastest on each track.  Use it as a base and tweak
from there.

I would presume that the qual set-ups, even with a race engine, might not be
suited for long runs????
