Hi !

Some years ago ( in pre-GPL era ) i've bought Indycar Racing 2, spend
lot's of time on it with my joystick, ( and my own telemetry replay
analyzer :o) ). And i'm still playing it sometimes, always with a
joystick because wheels seems to not working under DOS.
I heared from the grappe wine ( nice phrasing huh ? ;o) ), that there is
a Win32 Cart Version ?
Where could i have it ?
I've searched on www.abandongames.com but didn't find it !

please help !

regards,

Go to Sierra.com.   They 'used' to have a patch that updated your
dos version to windows.  Or you could look for the title under
CART Racing.  That has both the dos and widows versions on the same cd.

Be advised however, the Windows version does not work quite as well as the
DOS version.  You lose FPS, the sound is a little off, the car doesn't
respond quite as well, etc.  If you have gotten used to the DOS version, you
may not like the Windows version.

Well, i have no sound under Dos because of SBLive, under windows there's a SB16
emulation
so maybe i'll have some sound ....

Anyway, thanks for the answers, i found the icr2win path on sierra's web site.

You can get sound on the SBLive! under real mode dos too. You need to
install the real mode dos sound drivers which come on the original
driver cdrom. I believe there is a website where you can download the
dos sound drivers too, but I can't remember the url. Only problem with
the SBLive! dos drivers is that they require you have emm386.exe
loading in order for it to work. Some dos games have their own
internal memory manager (Dos4wg) and sometimes conflict if emm386.exe
is loaded too.

Not true -- on my Duron 750 system, the Windows version is just as
smooth as the DOS version (maybe even more smooth, in fact).  Excellent
control, great sound, great frame rates.  The only real problem with
the Windows version is that it will now allow Rendition support like
the DOS version did (which isn't a big problem, considering the fact
that my Rendition card is gathering dust in a drawer now).
